The Advanced Embedded Passives Technology (“AEPT”) Consortium is a group of companies working together to develop the embedded passives, resistors and capacitors, technology. This project will address development of materials, processes, design standards, cost trade-off modeling, and a high-frequency simulation model for embedded passives in FR4 and higher performance circuit board substrates. The project members are striving to develop the technology and manufacturing expertise needed to:

  • Meet the needs of the microelectronics industry for compact, high performance products that incorporate proven embedded passives technology.
  • Provide usable, cost-effective solutions for large format circuit boards that demonstrate high manufacturing yield.
  • Provide the cost modeling, performance simulation, and design tools that can be easily used by product designers.
  • Reduce the system cost of resistors to half that of chip resistors.
  • Demonstrate signal integrity improvements at speed higher than 2.5 GHz.
